South Charleston W.Va. — Robin Williams grandfather joined the Navy and learned how to cook, more specifically how to bake. When he got out, he opened Spring Hill Pastry Shop on the corner of Ohio and Chestnut Streets in South Charleston in 1948. 70 years later, his grandson Robin and his wife Chris continue to bake and create just like his grandfather to the delight of sweet seekers in the greater Kanawha Valley.
The dough and cake batter is made fresh daily, and is used to create everything you can imagine. Cakes, pies, doughnuts, cupcakes, bread, and cookies are just the beginning, but by far the most popular item are the signature hot dogs which Robin’s grandfather created in 1948. They literally can’t keep enough of them on the shelves as customers buy dozens at a time.
